Stars in Her Eyes

There’s just something about a buffalo plaid quilt that feels like home.

Stars in Her Eyes was my first real attempt at creating my own quilt pattern - and I knew from the beginning I wanted it to have that cozy, country-girl, buffalo gal kind of feel.

Red and black buffalo check. Crisp white. Classic Sawtooth Stars. And little blocks tucked between the sashing to bring the whole thing together.

But the best part?

This entire quilt is flannel.

And let me tell you… this quilt is basically a warm hug with a binding. 😂

Creating my own pattern was a whole new kind of challenge. There’s something different about looking at an idea in your head and then having to figure out how to actually make it work on paper, in fabric, and eventually on the sewing machine.

There were definitely some “Well… let’s see if this works” moments.

But that’s the fun of creating.

You try. You tweak. You make a few questionable decisions. You keep going. And eventually, the thing you pictured starts showing up right in front of you.

Stars in Her Eyes feels like campfires, mountain weekends, worn-in boots, chilly mornings, and wrapping up in something warm at the end of a long day.

A little western. A little farmhouse. A little wild.

And 100% cozy.

More than anything, this quilt reminds me why I love making things from scratch. Sometimes the best designs start with nothing more than a pile of fabric and a crazy little idea.

And sometimes that idea turns into a quilt you never want to give up.
